We run workshops occasionally to provide in-depth training on Bro and give our community a chance to have close interaction with the developers and other users.
This year’s workshop will run from November 8th — November 10th at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications in Urbana, IL. It will run 9am-5pm on the 8th and 9th and 9am-12pm on the 10th.
The workshop will focus on features and capabilities of the upcoming release of Bro, which has undergone major changes from a user’s perspective. Users who have attended a previous workshop could benefit greatly from attending again to learn the new features and capabilities that Bro provides.
Attendees will be expected to bring their own laptop with Bro preinstalled to facilitate an easy start for everyone. Please install Bro 2.0 beta from the download page.
See the workshop schedule page.
We try our best to maintain a minimal registration fee for the workshop which includes breakfast, lunch (during the first two days), and snacks. The registration fee for this year’s workshop will be $50 again like previous workshops. We are also capping registration at 40 attendees to maintain a manageable environment for learning.
The best choice for hotel is the Hampton Inn that is just across the street from the main NCSA building where the workshop is being held.
We have a room block reserved at the hotel for participants. The cost is $109 + tax per night for a double or King bed. Please call the hotel directly and mention “Bro-Blue Workshop”. The cut-off date for the room block is Oct. 17th, 2011.

For those flying in that have not been to the area, the local airport is Willard Airport (CMI). Urbana-Champaign is approximately a 2 and a half hour drive south of Chicago or a 2 hour drive west of Indianapolis, so be prepared to rent a car and make the drive if you fly to airports in either of those cities. Our suggestion, fly to CMI and take a taxi to the hotel.
